How it’s done
1) Access the “Channels” menu
On the dashboard, click the “Channels” tab in the “Catalog” section. Select the channel you want to add split.
- Items in red indicate the presence of corrections to be made.
- If you only want to display channels without splits, search for “not:owners” in the search field.
2) Access the “Rights” tab
3) Enter the Right Owners and Splits
Enter the name of the “Owner” (1) and the system will search for your registration and display a list of possible results. You must select it from this list before the information can be saved.
When selecting the holder, the typing focus goes directly to the “Function” field (2). Enter the role of the holder and press “Enter” for the next field.
Enter the “Split” (3) of the holder and press “Enter” on your keyboard or click on the green button next to the percentage field to save the information.
If you want to copy the rights to all videos on the channel, click the “Apply to Videos” button and confirm the action on the green “Checkbox” button.
When digital sales reports are processed, the amounts will be distributed in this proportion so that the payroll is generated and the label can pay everyone correctly.
Order of precedence
For the processing of contracts, there is an order of precedence for the use of percentages, exemplified below:
- Videos precede Channels;
- Recordings precede Products;
This means that, if there is a record of percentages in a recording, it will be used for that recording within a product to the detriment of the percentages in the product. This is done so that you can have a product where only one track has a special appearance, for example.
The same goes for videos and channels. You can have an artist’s channel where all the videos, by default, are 70% / 30% and one of the videos has a special participation in which one more person is added when dividing the values. Thus, making the percentages 20% / 50% / 30%.
This way, you don’t need to fill in the same percentage breakdown for all tracks on a product or for all videos on a channel.
